About
The XR Lab explores and expands how people engage with virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality through real-time visualization, virtual characters, video games, and simulated scenarios. The lab brings together designers, artists, engineers, computer and social scientists to study and develop immersive media. The team investigates the interactive Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Metaverse (VAM) approaches to design, create, evaluate, and experience everything from building construction, job training, driving safety, and entertainment.
Research projects include using VAM for building empathy and cognitive embodiment, architectural and construction visualization, police training, driving simulation, healthcare training, digital twin technology, biometric data collection, eye-tracking, hand-tracking, crowd behavior analysis, and 3D content creation.
